Graphene, a form of carbon, is seen as a perfect material for battery applications because its electron mobility is about 140 times that of silicon.
Samsung says the battery equipped with "grapheneballs" can be fully charged in just 12 minutes. By comparison, existing batteries take an hour to fully charge. Because graphene batteries are stable at temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius, the new batteries are also expected to be used in electric vehicles.
