Lithium-ion battery manufacturers briefly talk about the differences between fast charging and slow charging of lithium-ion batteries? At present, the number of users driving electric vehicles is constantly increasing, and electric vehicles are also improving with the progress of the times. For example, there are problems with charging lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. In the past, the charging time of electric vehicles was generally very long, so there were two charging methods: fast charging and slow charging. Below, a lithium-ion battery manufacturer will briefly discuss the differences between fast charging and slow charging of lithium-ion batteries?
Lithium-ion battery manufacturers briefly talk about the differences between fast charging and slow charging of lithium-ion batteries?
The purpose of fast charging is to allow the vehicle to be charged to replenish more than 50-60% of the electric energy in a short period of time, but battery technology, power transmission and distribution technology, especially heat dissipation technology, cannot do this. Nowadays, most of them are fixed 380V chargers in public parking lots. They use special lines to supply higher power and larger current for charging. Some also use centralized high-voltage introduction, convert them into DC power, and connect them to large battery banks. This can supply higher charging current and prevent impact on the grid when connected.
Slow charging is generally called a car charger, which means that the two-stage conversion circuit is built into the car. Since the power car can fit inside, it is very convenient for home use and only needs to be connected to an external 220V AC power supply. The charging power of fast charging is relatively large, usually tens of kW.
1. The difference between fast charging and slow charging is: the conversion circuit in the claw machine is different. The slow charge type converts 5V to 4.2V, and the fast charge type converts 9V (or higher voltage) to 4.2V. Although fast charging can greatly shorten the charging time, it also greatly shortens the cycle life of lithium-ion batteries, while slow charging causes less damage to battery equipment.
The charging voltage of lithium-ion batteries has a limit, generally not exceeding about 4.2V; and fast charging technology even requires 9V or higher. If such a high voltage is fed directly to the battery, the battery will not be able to withstand it. Therefore, there is also a special circuit in the claw machine, which is responsible for converting the 5V or 9V voltage into a voltage that the battery can withstand for charging the battery. Slow charging generally uses an ordinary 5V charger, and the charging power generally does not exceed 5Vx2A=10W. Fast charging often uses 9V or higher voltage, and the charging power is at least 9Vx2A=18W.
2. Fast charging and slow charging are relative. Generally, fast charging is high-power DC charging. It is a DC charging pile charging interface. It converts the alternating current of the power grid into direct current and transports it to the fast charging port of the new energy vehicle. The electric energy directly enters the battery for charging. , normally it can fully charge 80% of the battery capacity in half an hour; while slow charging refers to AC charging, which is an AC charging pile charging interface. The AC power from the grid is input into the slow charging port of the electric vehicle, and the AC power is converted into DC power is then input into the battery to complete charging. The charging time is generally 7-8 hours.
Advantages and disadvantages of fast charging and slow charging of lithium-ion batteries
Advantages of fast charging: 80% of the capacity of a lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in 0.5 hours. After 80% is exceeded, in order to protect the safety of the battery, the charging current becomes smaller and it takes longer to charge to 100%.
Disadvantages: Due to the characteristics of high charging voltage and large current, at the expense of reducing the number of battery charge and discharge cycles, it will cause certain damage to the battery and reduce the service life of the battery.
Advantages of slow charging: The charging current and power of slow charging are relatively small, which is better for battery life, and the charging cost is low due to low power consumption peaks.
Disadvantages: Charging time is too long, usually 5~8 hours.
We know that a car can have two charging interfaces. This is actually because there are two charging modes: stable voltage and stable current. Generally, constant current and then constant voltage are used, so that the charging efficiency is higher. The reason why fast charging is fast is due to the difference in charging voltage and current. The larger the current, the faster the charging. When it is almost full, switch to constant voltage, which can prevent the battery from overcharging and also achieve the effect of protecting the battery.
In general, mobile phone fast charging technology has pros and cons, it depends on how you understand it. In the short term, fast charging has no obvious impact on the life of lithium-ion batteries, but in the long run, fast charging also has a greater impact on battery life. of. However, given that most users currently replace their phones within 1-2 years, fast charging has little impact on the life of lithium-ion batteries, so fast-charging mobile phones with better experience are still the first choice.
