Siemens joins hands with Tianmuhu Research Institute to establish energy storage battery research center

Recently, Siemens Digital Industry Software subsidiary announced plans to expand its battery research business in China by developing a project that will help expand the market for future electric vehicles. The Siemens department will work closely with the Tianmu Lake Institute of Advanced Energy Storage Technology (TIES), established in April this year by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to develop new battery technologies; at the same time, Jiangsu Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park will also become a partner in the project. The partners will spend 500 million yuan ($70 million) to establish a battery technology innovation center in Liyang, China. The center opened this year and project partners said Siemens' digital services will enable the center to conduct design simulation, test analysis, pilot verification and engineering simulation.

Tianqi Lithium signs supply agreement with Northvolt

On the evening of September 24, Tianqi Lithium announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Tianqi Lithium Kwinana Pty Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "TLK") and Northvolt ETTAB (hereinafter referred to as "Northvolt") signed a "Long-term Supply Agreement". The agreement stipulates that TLK will provide Northvolt sells lithium hydroxide, and the sales unit price is determined by negotiation between the two parties; the sales quantity includes the basic quantity and the additional quantity. The additional quantity will be determined by negotiation with the seller after the buyer sends a notice according to its own needs, and the amount is subject to the final actual settlement. Among them, the average basic sales volume of lithium hydroxide products in a single year is approximately 6%-10% of the annual production capacity of TLK's lithium hydroxide construction project in the Kwinana region of Australia after reaching full capacity. The agreement is valid from 2020 to 2025.

At this stage, Tesla's China factory has been basically completed, and Tesla's battery suppliers are already preparing to produce power batteries for Tesla.

Fire breaks out in energy storage system of Pyeongchang wind farm in South Korea

At around 11:29 a.m. on September 24, a fire of unknown cause occurred in the energy storage system of the wind power station in Pyongyang-ri, Mitan-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon, South Korea.
