According to foreign media reports, the Volkswagen Group plans to hold an event next week, similar to Tesla's "Battery Day", to release the group's latest progress and status in batteries.
On March 9, Herbert Diess, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, sent out invitations to Volkswagen’s first “PowerDay” event on March 15 on Twitter and LinkedIn. Diess posted on social media "Please note: this is not a car show," the platform reads.
According to the preview images, the event seems to be announcing power battery technology, future electrification strategies, etc., but it seems that new models will not be mentioned. It is worth mentioning that Tesla will also hold similar Battery Day events every year to reveal some future plans to the outside world in advance.
Diess, 62, made his Twitter debut earlier this year and quickly took a good-natured dig at Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk has been on Twitter for nearly 12 years and uses Twitter to promote the company. As a result, Tesla has saved a lot of money on traditional advertising.

Improving battery expertise and ensuring adequate supplies are critical to VW's plans to build the industry's largest fleet of electric vehicles. The Volkswagen brand's ID.4 SUV will join the ID.3 hatchback this year and will be sold in China and North America in addition to Europe. VW's other divisions are also pushing hard on electrification, with premium brands Porsche and Audi as well as Skoda and Seat also launching electric vehicles this year. Volkswagen plans to roughly double the proportion of pure battery-powered vehicles in its total sales in 2021, reaching 6% to 8%, and narrow the sales gap with Tesla's electric vehicles.
